About Café CODA

Café CODA is Madison’s premier new jazz space dedicated to the presentation of traditional, contemporary and creative music. In the building known as the Fountain, Café CODA facilitates the long-desired manifestation of a space with suitable staging, a tuned concert piano, and state of the art drum kit, to inspire great music to be played by great artists. Café CODA maintains an arts-centric program of musical performances, workshops and master classes available to residents and patrons of the Madison Arts and Culture District. Located at 113 W. Dayton Café CODA is only steps away from the Overture Center for the Performing Arts, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and the State Capitol. Café CODA presents the musical works of local, regional and world-class musicians as it offers a sizable contribution to the Midwest American music scene.

Truly Blue Mondays (Blues Jam)

Stop by Cafe CODA on Mondays for the Blues Jam featuring Madison musicians, some familiar and others new to the audience.
7:30 p.m. Cover $5 Doors open at 6 p.m. Happy hour specials from 6-7 regularly on weekdays.

Tuesdays

Night of the Improviser Hosted by Hanah Jon Taylor

Café CODA presents an improvisers’ summit hosted by saxophone/flutist Hanah Jon Taylor. This night is dedicated to the true art of improvisation. Musicians are invited to come and contribute to this musical cacophony of moods, modes and creative rhythms. Cover $5

Wednesdays

Gypsy Swing Jazz Series

Cafe CODA presents a weekly series showcasing the works and style of various Gypsy jazz groups from the Madison community. All are invited to hear and experience the traditional and innovative sounds of this timeless idiom. This week’s event features LuLu Swing. 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Happy hour specials from 6-7 regularly on weekdays. Cover $5

Thursdays

Latin Jazz Jam & Dancing

Cafe CODA celebrates the contemporary and explosive sounds of the Latin jazz idiom hosted by Richard Hildner and Juancho Martinez. The evening will highlight local Latin jazz luminaries coming together to make magic moments of Latin rhythms and melodies. Assuredly on this night there will be dancing!
7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 Happy hour specials from 6-7 regularly on weekdays. Cover $5 which includes a dance lesson taught by one of Madison’s best Luis Armacanqui starting at 7:30pm.
